The Sindh High Court (SHC) has dismissed a petition challenging the mandatory implementation of Ajrak-design vehicle number plates in the province, ruling that the government’s policy is supported by law and does not require judicial intervention. The petition, filed by a citizen objecting to the fees of Rs 500–Rs 3,000 for the new plates and potential fines or vehicle seizures for non-compliance, argued that the charges were burdensome since owners had already paid for old plates.
The court noted that the challenge focused only on the fee structure and that enhanced security features in the Ajrak plates had been publicly notified. After reviewing the arguments, the bench found no legal defect and upheld the policy, allowing continued enforcement across Sindh.
