Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon inaugurated a brand-new fleet of pink buses reserved exclusively for female commuters on the Green Line BRT corridor at Karachi’s Numaish intersection.
Addressing the media at the launch, Memon announced that the provincial Transport Department will soon roll out more additions, including double-decker buses along Shahrah‑e Faisal and women-dedicated units within the upcoming electric bus fleet.
He further revealed plans to introduce free customised bikes and special bicycles for persons with disabilities, as part of broader enhancements in the city’s bus-rapid-transit infrastructure.
On the status of the Red Line project, Memon stated that disagreements are nearing resolution, and briefings with political and media representatives will follow shortly.
This women-only pink bus service marks another step in making Karachi’s public transport more inclusive and safer for female passengers.
