Customs officials at Karachi’s Air Cargo Control Unit (ACCU) have intercepted a parcel containing approximately 1.03 kilograms of marijuana with an estimated market value of Rs. 30.716 million. The shipment, which originated from the United States, was falsely declared as containing books when it arrived at the International Mail Office (IMO), Karachi and was flagged during routine profiling and examination.
Upon inspection, authorities discovered the concealed contraband and seized it immediately. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Customs described the operation as evidence of sustained vigilance against smuggling across all channels, noting that international mail services are increasingly being exploited for illicit trade. Legal proceedings are underway against those responsible, and investigations have been launched to identify the persons involved in the smuggling attempt. The FBR reiterated its commitment to combating smuggling, curbing corrupt practices, and safeguarding national revenue and public safety.
