The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has confirmed the sighting of the moon for the Islamic month of Rajab al-Murjab 1447 AH, indicating that the first day of Rajab will be observed on Monday, December 22, 2025, officials announced. The confirmation was made by the Committee’s chairman, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, and followed by an official notification from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Rajab is recognized as one of the four sacred months in the Islamic calendar and holds religious significance for Muslims, who often engage in additional prayers, reflection, and voluntary fasting during this period. The moon sighting aligns with predictions from the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), which had forecast favorable conditions for observation on the evening of December 21.
In addition to marking the beginning of Rajab, the 13th of Rajab, which is widely observed as the birth anniversary of Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (A.S.), is expected to fall on Sunday, January 4, 2026. Hazrat Ali, revered in Islamic history as the fourth caliph and a central figure in early Islamic leadership, is honored on this date with special prayers and observances.
