Punjab Assembly passes resolution seeking ban on Imran Khan and PTI

Punjab Assembly ban Imran Khan resolution

The Punjab Assembly has approved a resolution calling for a ban on Imran Khan and his political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), citing repeated allegations that Khan and his party spread “anti-Pakistan propaganda.”

The motion was introduced by MPA Tahir Pervaiz from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). The resolution demands that regardless of any political or group affiliation, action be taken under national laws to ban both Khan and PTI, and prosecute those deemed responsible for destabilising rhetoric.

The decision reflects a growing push by provincial lawmakers to formally outlaw the party and its leadership, escalating political tensions amid a charged partisan environment.
