President Asif Ali Zardari will undertake a three-day official visit to Bahrain from January 13 to January 16, 2026, the Foreign Office announced on Thursday. The visit, which comes at the invitation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, is aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between Pakistan and Bahrain across political, economic and defence sectors.
During his stay in Manama, President Zardari is expected to hold bilateral talks with Bahraini leadership, including discussions on trade, investment, labour mobility, energy cooperation and regional security. Officials said the visit will provide an opportunity to explore avenues for increased economic collaboration and to bolster strategic ties that have historically been rooted in shared cultural and diplomatic engagement.
The delegation accompanying the president will include senior government officials and representatives from the private sector, reflecting Islamabad’s interest in promoting private-sector-driven economic partnerships. Pakistani diplomatic sources emphasised that both countries are keen to enhance cooperation on mutual priorities such as trade facilitation, infrastructure development and defence collaboration.
The Foreign Office noted that President Zardari’s visit underscores Pakistan’s commitment to deepening strategic partnerships in the Gulf region, particularly with longstanding allies like Bahrain, where a sizeable Pakistani expatriate community also contributes to bilateral ties.
