PMA urges 125-year maritime vision: Pakistan’s Maritime Future 2047-2147

Pakistan Maritime Future 2047-2147

At the headquarters of the Pakistan Marine Academy (PMA) in Karachi’s Hawke’s Bay, the theme for this year’s International Maritime Week was set firmly on the future. Addressing cadets and faculty, Commodore Rizwan Ali Munawar, the academy’s commandant, said it is time to look beyond immediate maritime needs and make strategic plans stretching over the next 125 years.

The event, conducted by the Pakistan Marine Academy, drew a large gathering of nautical and engineering cadets, with Tamizuddin Khero — Chairman of the BB Shaheed Human Resource Research & Development Board — as the chief guest.

In his remarks, Khero emphasised the slogan “Our Ocean, Our Responsibility, Our Opportunity,” underscoring the sea as a national asset that requires protection. He added that the ocean holds the key to future prosperity.

Commodore Munawar, speaking under the banner “Pakistan’s Maritime Future 2047-2147,” urged stakeholders to shift from short-term fixes and adopt bold long-range planning. He said the current moment isn’t just reflection—but the start of a strategic voyage into a long-term maritime horizon.
