Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has inaugurated the modernized Karachi Cantt Railway Station and officially launched the upgraded Shalimar Express, marking a major milestone in Pakistan Railways’ infrastructure overhaul.
During the ceremony, the PM praised the collaboration between the federal government and Sindh authorities to deliver upgraded rail services. He highlighted plans to replicate this model of railway modernization in other provinces.
The revamped Karachi Cantt station now features CIP lounges, expanded waiting halls, escalators, ATMs, QR-code-based digital complaint counters, and other modern amenities.
Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi noted that the Shalimar Express coaches have been refurbished to enhance passenger comfort.
