The process to privatise PIA has once again been delayed, with authorities now targeting completion by late December 2025 rather than the previously set mid-year deadlines.
Officials informed a Senate-body that due diligence by multiple consortia — evaluating PIA’s assets, fleet, and routes — is nearing its final stages.
Despite repeated postponements, the government maintains that the privatisation will proceed on schedule this time, citing structural reforms and revised transaction terms to attract investors.
The sale is considered a key element of Pakistan’s broader economic reform agenda and a condition under its International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreement.
