PIA Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Karachi

emergency landing

A flight operated by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), travelling from Lahore to Jeddah, had to make an emergency landing at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi early Thursday after the cockpit windshield cracked mid-air. The crew diverted the aircraft to Karachi following the incident. While PIA attributed the crack to a bird strike, this was later disputed by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA). Meanwhile, the Society of Aircraft Engineers of Pakistan (SAEP) pointed to negligence and delayed replacement of aircraft components as the likely cause.

The first officer’s side windshield gave way during flight, prompting the pilot to contact Karachi air traffic control for an immediate landing. PIA confirmed they would replace the windshield and said passengers would continue to Jeddah either on the same or an alternate aircraft.
