Pakistan is preparing to launch the final nationwide polio eradication drive of 2025 beginning Monday, with more than 400,000 frontline health workers mobilised to vaccinate around 45.5 million children under five across the country. The campaign was highlighted at an awareness event in Karachi where officials, including Karachi’s mayor, reaffirmed the need for community support and cooperation to protect children from the crippling poliovirus.
Health authorities reiterated that continued door-to-door vaccination efforts are essential to move closer to the complete eradication of polio, particularly as Pakistan remains one of the last countries where the disease persists.
