New Road Improves Connectivity Between Astore and Skardu

The Shagma–Manthokha road provides a new link between Astore and Skardu. The project was completed despite difficult geographical conditions, which have historically made transportation across the mountainous region challenging.

The improved route is expected to make travel more convenient for residents, traders and people transporting goods between the two districts.

Eight Villages Regain Direct Access

One of the key benefits of the road project is the restoration of direct access to district headquarters for eight villages in the Phoota Khas Valley of Gultari.

The improved connection is expected to help local residents reach essential services and travel more easily for education, healthcare and other daily needs.

Road Expected to Boost Trade and Agriculture

The new road is also expected to support economic activity in Gilgit-Baltistan by making it easier to transport agricultural products and livestock between communities and markets.

Better road connectivity could reduce travel difficulties for local businesses and farmers while improving access to commercial opportunities in the region.
