Nine armed bandits were killed in a police encounter near the Manchhar Shah graveyard in Shikarpur, according to local authorities.
The operation — launched after reports of criminal activity in the area — resulted in four police officers being wounded, including two senior officers (Deputy Superintendents Police).
Officials said the slain suspects were implicated in serious crimes including kidnapping for ransom, armed robbery, drug-trafficking and highway robberies.
Police have cordoned off the area, deployed armoured units and drone surveillance, and one of the suspects has been taken alive in a wounded condition. A comprehensive search operation is underway to ensure no accomplices remain at large.
