Mir Raza Murder Case: Judicial Commission Report Due October 15

Mir Raza Murder Case

Karachi, October 14, 2026: A judicial commission investigating the death of young entrepreneur Mir Raza Ali has completed its report and is scheduled to submit its findings to the Sindh government on Thursday, October 15, according to ARY News.

The commission, headed by Sindh High Court Justice Umar Sial, conducted hearings for more than a month to examine the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death and possible negligence during the initial investigation.

According to commission sources, the report will be handed over to the Sindh government’s home secretary at 10:00 am on Thursday. The submission will mark a significant development in a case that has raised questions about police procedures, forensic evidence and the handling of the investigation.

Commission Examines Police Investigation and Possible Negligence

The Sindh government established the one-member judicial commission in August to determine the exact circumstances surrounding Mir Raza Ali’s death and assess whether the investigation was conducted impartially and in accordance with the law.

The commission recorded statements from 49 witnesses across 15 hearings before concluding its proceedings on October 7. It also visited the location where Mir Raza’s body was discovered.

The inquiry examined the conduct of police officers, medico-legal officials and other individuals involved in the case. It also considered whether evidence had been properly preserved and whether any investigative shortcomings required further action.

Mir Raza’s Death Raised Questions About Initial Investigation

Mir Raza Ali’s body was found on July 29, a day after he went missing. He had sustained a gunshot wound, and the case was initially treated as a possible suicide.

However, questions emerged about the first post-mortem report after Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed reportedly identified discrepancies between its findings and the available photographs.

Following an application by the family, a court ordered the exhumation of the body and a second post-mortem examination.

The subsequent report concluded that the death resulted from a firearm injury to the chest and stated that the findings were inconsistent with suicide. The case was subsequently investigated as murder.

Commission Questions Police Handling of Evidence

During the inquiry, the commission examined possible shortcomings in the initial investigation, including the preservation of the crime scene and collection of forensic evidence.

Investigating officers were questioned about the recovery of items from the location where the body was found, the handling of digital evidence and the examination of possible motives.

The inquiry also considered whether potential leads involving financial matters, threats or other suspicious circumstances had been adequately investigated.

The commission’s findings are expected to outline its assessment of the evidence and recommend any further investigation or departmental action considered necessary.

Sindh Home Secretary Summoned for Report Submission

According to ARY News, the commission’s registrar will formally hand over the completed report to the Sindh home secretary at 10:00 am on October 15.

The submission follows an extension of the commission’s term by the Sindh government to allow additional time to complete its findings and recommendations.

Whether the report will be made public remains a separate question. Earlier proceedings indicated that the Sindh chief minister would decide whether to release the findings publicly.

What Happens After the Report Is Submitted?

The Sindh government will have the opportunity to review the commission’s findings and consider its recommendations.

Possible next steps could include further investigation, forensic examination or departmental proceedings if the report identifies grounds for such action.

The commission’s report is an important development, but its conclusions and any subsequent government decisions will determine what action follows.

The case has drawn considerable attention because of questions surrounding the original post-mortem examination and the handling of evidence. The family and public will be looking for clarity on the circumstances of Mir Raza’s death and whether any officials failed to perform their duties.
