Karachi: Traffic plan announced for April 23

Karachi

KARACHI: Following a security warning in Karachi ahead of Iran President Ebrahim Raisi’s arrival, the traffic police have produced a plan outlining all of the routes that would be closed on April 23 (Tuesday).

Syed Hassan Naqvi, the Commissioner of Karachi, has previously declared a public holiday for April 23.

The office of the Karachi Commissioner has issued a statement proclaiming a public holiday on April 23, with all public and private offices and schools closed throughout the city.

Meanwhile, security measures have been tightened, with containers erected surrounding Quaid’s mausoleum and a large detachment of police, Rangers, and security officers stationed across the city.

To guarantee the smooth transit of the high-level delegation, a traffic plan has been developed, resulting in the temporary closure of multiple roadways.

According to a spokeswoman, Shahre Faisal, the city’s major artery, would stay blocked for a short time during the day. Club Road from PIDC to Metropole, as well as the area between Dr Ziauddin Road and PIDC Chowk, would be blocked altogether.

Vehicles arriving from Sultanabad will be routed to the Aiwan-e-Sadr Road. Traffic traveling from Shahrah-e-Faisal to Sultanabad will turn left at Club Chowk, heading towards Clifton Bridge and the Boat Basin.

Furthermore, the spokesman stated that traffic from Khaliq-uz-Zaman Road and Ghizri will turn right at the Ziauddin Road light to Metropole, Fountain Chowk, and Aiwan-e-Sadr Road.

Traffic from the Shaheen Complex will turn right at Khajoor Chowk towards Aiwan-e-Sadr Road, Metropole, Clifton, and other destinations.

Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi is now on a three-day visit to Pakistan. This is the first visit by a head of state since the February 8 national elections.

Iran’s presidential entourage includes the foreign minister, other cabinet members, top officials, and a substantial commercial group.
