Karachi police have announced a citywide crackdown on illegal and non-standard vehicle number plates, set to begin on the announced enforcement date as part of efforts to improve law and order and traffic monitoring. Authorities said vehicles displaying fake, fancy, incomplete or unregistered number plates will be fined, seized or penalised under traffic laws.
Police officials urged vehicle owners to switch to official, standardised number plates issued by the excise department before the operation begins, warning that no leniency will be shown once enforcement starts. The move aims to support surveillance systems, crime tracking and the e-challan framework by ensuring vehicles are properly identifiable across Karachi.
