KARACHI, September 30, 2026 — Milk sellers in Karachi have increased the price of fresh milk by Rs30 per litre, taking the new market price to Rs250 per litre. The increase was attributed by dairy sellers to rising production and operating costs.
Milk Price Increased by Rs30 Per Litre
According to reports cited by The Pakistan Connect, the price of fresh milk has increased from Rs220 to Rs250 per litre in Karachi.
The Gujjar Milk Sellers Union and Fresh Milk Union announced the new price, saying higher costs associated with dairy production had contributed to the increase.
Dairy Sellers Cite Rising Production Costs
Representatives of the milk sellers said the costs of maintaining dairy animals, including fodder and feed, have increased significantly.
They also pointed to higher livestock prices as another factor affecting the overall cost of milk production. According to the unions, these rising expenses have made it difficult for dairy farmers and sellers to continue operating at previous prices.
District Administration Rejects Price Increase
The reported increase has not been accepted by the district administration. Officials said the government-approved prices for milk and yoghurt had not been changed.
This creates a difference between the officially notified rate and the price being quoted by some milk sellers in local markets.

Earlier Karachi Milk Price Revision
Karachi’s milk prices had already been revised earlier in 2026. An official notification increased the retail price by Rs20 per litre, setting it at Rs240 per litre, while the farmer and wholesale rates were fixed at Rs215 and Rs225 respectively.
The latest reported increase therefore adds further pressure on consumers who rely on fresh milk as a daily household essential.
