In a significant operation in Karachi, the Pakistan Rangers Sindh apprehended a prominent extortionist tied to the Kathiawari Gang. The suspect was taken into custody on 23 November 2025 as part of intensified efforts to crack down on organised crime and extortion networks in the city.
Authorities noted that the operation reflects increased pressure on extortion mafias operating in Karachi’s underbelly, where criminal syndicates linked with land-mafia and gang networks have long plagued local business communities and residents. The Rangers recovery reportedly included materials relating to extortion demands and gang logistics, underscoring the systemic nature of the threat.
The arrest comes amid a broader clamp-down on such syndicates; previously, the Rangers had carried out multiple large-scale operations targeting extortion networks across districts such as Lyari and Korangi. The business community has welcomed the move, viewing it as a sign that law-enforcement is gaining the upper hand in protecting Karachi’s commercial interests.
