A high-level committee has been formed to review and analyse Karachi’s 2025 e-challan system, which was introduced earlier this year to automate traffic enforcement across the city. The committee’s mandate includes assessing the effectiveness, legal framework and public impact of the digital system, particularly as complaints and legal challenges have grown since its launch. Traffic police and city officials will provide data, feedback and recommendations as part of the review process.
The development comes amid criticism from political figures and petitions filed in the Sindh High Court challenging aspects of the e-challan roll-out. The system, designed to issue automated traffic fines through cameras, radar and digital tracking, has also prompted debate on enforcement, fairness and errors in ticketing.
