The Sindh High Court on Tuesday declined to grant a stay on the operation of the e-challan system in Karachi, despite petitions challenging its implementation.
During the hearing, the bench instructed petitioners to wait for responses from the relevant departments — including the provincial government and traffic authorities — before advancing their arguments.
The petitions raised issues such as lack of adequate traffic infrastructure, absence of proper vehicle-ownership verification, and excessively heavy fines compared with other cities.
The court has issued notices to the provincial government, DIG Traffic and other stakeholders, requesting written replies ahead of the next hearing.
