K-Electric Removes 160 kg of Illegal Electricity Connections in Bin Qasim

K-Electric crackdown electricity theft Rind Goth Bin Qasim

K-Electric (KE) has intensified its crackdown on electricity theft in Bin Qasim Town, removing 160 kilograms of illegal connections and related equipment during a targeted operation in the Rind Goth area. The utility company said the action, carried out by its anti-theft enforcement teams, forms part of ongoing efforts to curb non-technical losses and improve service reliability for paying customers.

During the operation, technicians and enforcement officers identified and dismantled a large number of unauthorised electricity taps, bypass wires and theft devices installed across residential and commercial premises. KE officials said the recovered material — including copper cables, connectors and improvised tapping mechanisms — weighed approximately 160 kg and represented a significant haul indicative of widespread illegal activity in the neighbourhood.

KE representatives emphasised that electricity theft not only deprives the utility of critical revenue needed for infrastructure upgrades, but also jeopardises public safety, increases fire risks and results in voltage fluctuations that damage appliances for lawful consumers. The company reiterated its commitment to continue enforcing zero-tolerance policies against power theft and to refer cases to law enforcement as necessary.

Local residents were urged to report suspected theft points to KE’s hotline or mobile app to assist ongoing enforcement, while warning that continued violations could lead to disconnections, fines and legal action under applicable regulations.
