KARACHI, October 14, 2026: K-Electric (KE) has announced the withdrawal of temporary load management measures in Karachi following the restoration of re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) supplies and improved electricity generation at its Bin Qasim Power Station-III (BQPS-III).
According to the power utility, the resumption of RLNG supplies has helped stabilise power generation, enabling it to end the additional electricity cuts introduced during the recent fuel shortage. However, scheduled load shedding will continue in areas with high electricity theft and low bill recovery rates.
RLNG Supply Restoration Improves Electricity Generation
K-Electric attributed the temporary power cuts to disruptions in RLNG supplies, which affected electricity generation across Pakistan.
Delays in LNG cargoes and international supply disruptions had reduced fuel availability, putting additional pressure on power generation during peak demand periods.
The utility said electricity generation at BQPS-III has now stabilised following the restoration of fuel supplies. It also thanked Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL) and the relevant authorities for their cooperation in resolving the supply issue.
Scheduled Load Shedding to Continue in Some Areas
Despite ending the temporary load management measures, K-Electric has clarified that its regular load-shedding schedule remains in effect in areas where electricity theft is high and bill recovery is low.
This means residents should not interpret the announcement as a complete end to all power cuts across Karachi. Outages may continue in affected neighbourhoods according to the utility’s published schedule.
Consumers can check the applicable timings through K-Electric’s official website.
Karachi Residents Had Faced Prolonged Power Outages
Before the announcement, residents across several parts of Karachi had reported electricity suspensions, including in neighbourhoods that had previously been exempt from scheduled load shedding.
Areas mentioned in recent reports included Saddar, Clifton, Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Korangi, Orangi Town, Liaquatabad, North Karachi and North Nazimabad. Outages were also reported in Malir, Landhi, SITE, Baldia, Mauripur, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
The power cuts disrupted household routines and business activities, while residents raised concerns about the duration of outages and the reliability of electricity supply.
K-Electric Thanks Consumers for Their Patience
K-Electric expressed appreciation to consumers for their patience and cooperation during the temporary disruption. The company also acknowledged the support of Pakistan LNG Limited and other relevant authorities in restoring RLNG supplies.
The latest announcement offers relief from the additional power cuts linked to the fuel shortage. Nevertheless, residents experiencing outages should check their local schedules and report unexpected interruptions to the utility.

What Karachi Consumers Should Know
The end of temporary load management means the additional cuts introduced because of the RLNG shortage have been withdrawn. It does not guarantee uninterrupted electricity in every part of Karachi, as regular scheduled load shedding will continue in certain areas.
