K-Electric Condemns Violent Attack on Field Staff During Anti-Theft Drive

K-Electric condemns attack on field staff

K-Electric has strongly condemned a violent attack on its field staff during an anti-theft operation aimed at removing illegal electricity connections, known locally as kunda connections, in North Karachi. The utility’s spokesperson criticised the assault by miscreants who resisted the removal drive, stressing that attacks on employees engaged in lawful enforcement activities are unacceptable.

According to the official statement, the incident occurred during a scheduled kunda removal operation, which is part of K-Electric’s ongoing efforts to curb electricity theft that undermines public safety and strains the power infrastructure. The company reaffirmed its commitment to continuing such drives despite hostile reactions, emphasising the importance of collaboration with law-enforcement to ensure staff safety and successful outcomes.

K-Electric highlighted that tackling electricity theft remains a key priority, as illegal hook connections pose serious risks to both the grid and the community. The utility reiterated its call for defaulters to regularise their connections and settle outstanding dues, noting that theft and non-payment significantly impact operational efficiency and service reliability.
