Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan has invited Qatari investors to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs), particularly in Karachi’s industrial areas. The initiative aims to strengthen economic ties between Pakistan and Qatar, encourage industrial development and attract foreign investment.
The invitation came during a series of high-level meetings in Doha on October 25 and 26, held alongside the World Investment Forum 2026. Discussions covered trade, investment, agriculture, food security, regional connectivity, tourism and hospitality.
Pakistan Highlights Industrial and Export Opportunities
During his meeting with the Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Jam Kamal encouraged stronger business-to-business partnerships between Pakistani and Qatari companies.
He highlighted opportunities in export-oriented manufacturing and industrial partnerships, noting that Pakistan’s geographical position could help investors reach regional markets, including those in Africa, through improved trade links and supply-chain networks.
Both sides discussed the importance of better logistics infrastructure, diversified supply chains and stronger regional transport connections to facilitate trade and investment.
Pakistan and Qatar Explore Agricultural Cooperation
The commerce minister also met Qatar’s Minister of Municipality to discuss expanding cooperation in agriculture, food security and bilateral trade.
The discussions focused on agricultural development, food supply chains and opportunities for greater collaboration between government institutions and private businesses. Both sides explored ways to turn these discussions into practical commercial partnerships.
Retaj Group Shows Interest in Hospitality Investment
Jam Kamal Khan also met representatives of Retaj Group to explore potential investment opportunities in Pakistan’s hospitality and tourism sectors.
The group expressed interest in considering joint ventures with Pakistani business partners and expanding its hospitality brands into Pakistan and other Islamic countries. Such partnerships could create opportunities for private-sector investment and tourism development.
