Hungary has significantly expanded its educational support for Pakistani students by offering 400 fully funded Hungary-Pakistan scholarships, reinforcing its commitment to stronger bilateral ties.
The announcement came during a high-level press conference in Islamabad, where Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Hungary’s Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó met to celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations.
Under this scholarship scheme — via Hungary’s Stipendium Hungaricum Programme — Pakistani students can apply for undergraduate, master’s, and PhD studies. The scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, a monthly living stipend, and even travel expenses.
Szijjártó revealed that more than 1,700 applications from Pakistani students have already flooded in for the 400 seats.
Beyond education, the two countries also signed memoranda of understanding (MOUs) during the visit to deepen cooperation in trade, industry, and cultural exchange. Dar expressed gratitude for Hungary’s role in supporting Pakistan’s industrial growth, citing contributions from the Hungarian-linked Mughal Group.
The leaders also addressed regional and global challenges, discussing security issues in Afghanistan and the ongoing humanitarian crises in Gaza and Ukraine.
This dramatic boost in Hungary-Pakistan scholarships not only opens doors for talented Pakistani students to study in Europe but also underscores a deeper, people-centered partnership between the two nations.
