A blaze broke out on Tuesday evening near the University of Karachi campus when dry bushes caught fire and strong winds fanned the flames. The fire tore through a nearby graveyard—damaging several tombs—and swiftly advanced into an informal settlement of makeshift houses.

A 50-year-old man was found deceased during the search operation after the fire was brought under control and the cooling process had begun.
