The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration team at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi intercepted two separate smuggling operations. In the first operation, five travellers from Bannu, Peshawar, Khyber and Mohmand districts were off-loaded for attempting to fly to Italy via Saudi Arabia under the guise of Umrah visas. They had reportedly paid PKR 4.5 million each and agreed to pay another PKR 1.5 million once they’d reached Libya.
In the second operation, two men from Kotli, Azad Kashmir, were prevented from boarding a flight bound for Azerbaijan with plans to reach Belarus illegally. Their passports had tampered pages, and inspectors found forged work visas, police character certificates and bank receipts. They had each paid around PKR 1.6 million.
