The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has deployed 16 Inland Revenue Service (IRS) officers to Pakistan’s newly established National Faceless Center (NFC) in Islamabad as the tax authority moves to make the facility fully operational.
The officers, ranging from BS-17 to BS-20, have been assigned to different positions at the center with immediate effect. The move is part of the FBR’s broader effort to modernize tax administration through digital systems and reduce direct interaction between taxpayers and tax officials.
16 FBR Officers Posted to National Faceless Center
The newly posted officials include one Commissioner-IR, two Commissioner-IR (OPS), two Additional Commissioners-IR, seven Deputy Commissioners-IR and three Assistant Commissioners-IR.
Among the senior officers posted to the center are Rabia Yaseer Durrani, Maria Sharif, Sultan Muhammad Nawaz Nasir, Tanvir Hussain Bhatti and Nafeesa Bano.
The FBR said the postings have taken effect immediately to support the operationalization of the National Faceless Center. Officers who were already receiving performance allowance before the notification will continue to receive the allowance at their new postings.
FBR Introduces Faceless Tax System
The National Faceless Center was formally established by the FBR on September 25, 2026. Under the new system, tax audit and assessment cases will be selected through a computerized, risk-based process rather than by individual officers.
Cases will then be assigned automatically to officers who may be located anywhere in Pakistan. Taxpayers will not know the identity of the officer handling their case, while officers will have no role in selecting which cases they receive.
Tax Proceedings to Move Online
Under the faceless system, each case will pass through separate stages. One officer will conduct the audit, another will make the assessment, and a third will review the work before an order is issued.
Notices, responses and hearings will be handled electronically through the FBR’s IRIS system. Physical verification or recovery, where legally required, will be carried out separately by field teams.
