Farooq Sattar senior leader of MQM-Pakistan has accused the provincial government of creating a “state within a state” in Karachi on Sindhi Culture Day, alleging widespread lawlessness, violence and threats to the constitutional order.
Speaking at a press conference alongside opposition leaders, Sattar said that on December 7, during the cultural observance, multiple incidents erupted across the city: participants reportedly damaged public and private property, openly displayed weapons, chanted slogans hostile to the state, and used abusive language against Kamran Tessori, the Governor of Sindh.
He described the events as akin to a declaration of “Sindhudesh” a separate entity for Sindh and charged that law and order were deliberately undermined. He claimed some individuals arrested during the violence were released soon after court proceedings, suggesting leniency toward suspects.
Sattar further warned that these developments threatened the city’s peace and the country’s integrity. He urged the government to restore its writ, called for the Sindh High Court to take suo motu notice, and demanded a transparent inquiry into the matter.
