At Pakistan Customs’ Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, officers intercepted two major drug-smuggling attempts. A shipment from Thailand, declared as “amulets,” actually contained 1.69 kg of marijuana — valued at around Rs 52 million. Meanwhile, a parcel originating from Belgium—labelled a “vacuum cleaner”—was found to house 1,945 pills of MDMA (Ecstasy), with an estimated worth of Rs 62 million. Together, the seizures amount to approximately Rs 114 million.
Officials noted the growing use of international mail channels by criminal networks, citing the expansion of e-commerce and cross-border parcels as new vulnerabilities. Pakistan Customs says it remains alert and continues to boost its enforcement efforts to stop such shipments from reaching communities.
