PESHAWAR, September 22, 2026 — Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has reaffirmed the armed forces’ commitment to combating terrorism and promoting lasting peace and stability across Pakistan.
Munir made the remarks during his visit to Corps Headquarters Peshawar on Tuesday, where he received a briefing on the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), ongoing counterterrorism operations and border management measures.
Munir Reviews Security Situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
During the Peshawar visit, Field Marshal Munir was briefed on the prevailing security environment in KP, counterterrorism activities and the operational readiness of formations deployed across the province.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), he directed the formations to remain vigilant and maintain high standards of operational preparedness.
Armed Forces Vow Continued Fight Against Terrorism
Field Marshal Munir said the armed forces remained determined to defeat terrorism with the support of the Pakistani nation.
He also highlighted the importance of maintaining operational readiness while safeguarding the country and its people. ISPR said Munir appreciated the morale, professionalism and preparedness of officers and troops serving in the region.
Tribute Paid to Security Personnel
During his visit, Munir also went to Yadgar-e-Shuhada at Corps Headquarters Peshawar. He laid a floral wreath and offered Fateha in remembrance of personnel who lost their lives while defending the country and fighting terrorism.
The army chief said the sacrifices of the martyrs would continue to be remembered.
Visit Follows Recent Kohat Attack
The visit came shortly after a deadly attack at the old Police Lines in Kohat. Reports said the incident resulted in multiple deaths and injuries, followed by a security operation in which eight militants were killed.
Pakistan has also conducted counterterrorism operations and strikes against militant targets following a series of recent attacks in KP.
