Ghotki – Serious allegations of bribery have emerged at the Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Sub-Campus in Ghotki, where several clerical staff members are reportedly charging applicants illegal fees during the admission process.
According to multiple student complaints, some clerks have allegedly been taking payments under the guise of “mithai” (a term often used to mask bribery), with amounts reportedly reaching up to PKR 20,000 per student. These payments were said to be demanded in exchange for speeding up admission procedures or guaranteeing seat confirmation.
Parents and students have expressed strong concerns, calling the practice unethical and exploitative for families already struggling with rising education costs. Some students claimed they were directly told that their admission files would not be processed unless they “cooperated.”
University administration has not yet issued an official response on the matter. However, sources suggest the issue may be taken up by senior officials for internal inquiry, especially as pressure grows from applicants demanding transparency.
Local education activists have urged authorities to take strict action and implement a transparent, corruption-free admission system across all university sub-campuses.
The situation continues to develop as more students come forward with similar allegations.
