A productive visit to Karachi: Jam has discussions with major economic and trade organization

KARACHI: Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for Commerce, recently finished a comprehensive and rewarding visit to Karachi, which included substantial contacts with important economic and trade organizations.

The tour began with a heartfelt homage to the Quaid, when Jam visited his Mazar and lay a wreath at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah and offered Fateha.

Addressing the media, Khan emphasized the economic concerns, including rising prices and the complexities of trade improvement.

He emphasized that, under Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s guidance, the administration is actively developing methods to overcome these challenges. Khan stressed the non-viability of subsidies under IMF conditions and the importance of balancing the supply-demand cycle.

He also discussed the construction of the Special Investment Facilitation Centre (SIFC) to improve the investment climate and the untapped trade possibilities with Africa.

TDAP: Mr. Khan met with Chief Executive Mr. Zubair Motiwala and other TDAP personnel. The discussions focused on TDAP’s promotional efforts, future trade shows, and overseas delegations aimed at enhancing Pakistan’s economic environment.

TCP: The Commerce Minister’s visit to the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) included strategic discussions with CEO Syed Rafeo Bashir. The talk focused on TCP’s revenue streams, operational problems, and debt management. Khan recommended revising TCP’s operational and financial models, focusing on real estate management and infrastructure development.

NICL: CEO Khalid Hamid of the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) provided the minister with the company’s insurance management structure and investment strategies.
