A seven-year-old child died after falling into an open manhole in Tehsil Kahror Pacca, Lodhran — the tragic incident took place in the Dhanot area when the boy was returning home with his father after buying breakfast.
According to authorities, the child remained trapped for two hours before his body could be recovered.
In response, the provincial Maryam Nawaz Sharif (Chief Minister of Punjab) ordered the removal of the district commissioner and directed strict action against the contractor and sub-engineer responsible for maintenance of the area.
A case has been registered against those responsible, signalling the start of a formal investigation into the circumstances that left the manhole uncovered.
