Security forces have foiled a series of coordinated militant attacks across Balochistan, killing at least 37 terrorists while 10 security personnel were martyred, authorities said on Saturday. The government described the operations as a decisive response to insurgent violence aimed at destabilising the southwest province.
According to military and law enforcement sources, the militants launched assaults at 12 different locations, targeting security installations and law enforcement units in cities including Quetta, Gwadar and other districts. Security forces comprising the army, paramilitary units and provincial police responded swiftly, engaging in intense firefights that resulted in the deaths of the 37 assailants and the loss of 10 officials in the line of duty.
Officials emphasised that the attacks were effectively repelled due to timely action and coordinated defensive operations, and that sanitisation efforts are continuing to clear threat pockets and restore stability in affected areas. Authorities are also investigating any links between the militants and broader insurgent networks operating in the region.
The violence underscores ongoing security challenges in Balochistan, where separatist and militant groups have periodically attempted to disrupt peace and state authority. The government reiterated its resolve to combat terrorism and protect civilians and security personnel from further attacks.
