Twenty-five newly acquired buses for Peshawar’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system are being transported by trucks from Karachi Port to the BRT headquarters, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP). The movement was photographed on October 16, 2026, as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government prepares to expand public transport capacity in the provincial capital.
New Buses to Expand Peshawar’s BRT Fleet
The 25 buses are part of a larger purchase of 52 vehicles intended to improve transport facilities for commuters in Peshawar. The remaining 27 buses were also reported to be on their way to Pakistan.
Once all 52 buses are added to the existing fleet, the number of buses in the Peshawar BRT system is expected to increase from 244 to 296.
The expansion is intended to provide additional transport capacity for passengers who rely on the service for daily travel, including work, education and other essential journeys.

The addition of new buses is expected to increase the system’s capacity and provide more travel options for residents. The expanded fleet could help accommodate passenger demand and support the continued development of public transport in Peshawar.
The new vehicles are part of the provincial government’s efforts to strengthen urban transport infrastructure. Their operational deployment and the timing of their entry into passenger service have not been confirmed in the APP photo report.
