IMF Executive Board to review $1.2 billion disbursement request for Pakistan on Dec 8

IMF $1.2bn Pakistan disbursement review

The International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Executive Board is scheduled to meet on December 8, 2025 to review Pakistan’s request for a $1.2 billion disbursement under its ongoing financial programs. The funding package comprises about $1 billion through the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and $200 million via the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF), subject to board approval.

Approval could unlock the funds as early as the following day, strengthening Pakistan’s external buffers and supporting its broader reform agenda. The meeting follows a staff-level agreement reached in October after negotiations between IMF officials and Pakistani authorities in Karachi, Islamabad and Washington. The release of this tranche is tied to progress on structural reforms and fiscal consolidation efforts.
