Three Chinese workers were killed after a drone strike launched from Afghanistan targeted a labour camp in southern Tajikistan’s Khatlon region, near the Afghan border.
The camp belonged to a company identified as LLC Shohin SM. According to the statement by the foreign ministry of Tajikistan, attackers used both firearms and an unmanned aerial vehicle armed with grenades to carry out the assault.
Tajikistan condemned the act and called on the authorities in Afghanistan to take urgent action to secure the frontier. The cross-border attack has renewed regional concerns about militants or criminal groups operating from Afghan territory.
The deaths have also prompted diplomatic reactions: several countries emphasised the gravity of armed drone use and highlighted risks to foreign workers and regional stability.
