A devastating crash near Medina, Saudi Arabia, has claimed the lives of 45 Indian Umrah pilgrims after their bus collided with a diesel tanker, with only one survivor reported.
Most of the victims were from Hyderabad, Telangana, according to local and Indian officials.
In response, the Indian Consulate in Jeddah has set up a 24-hour control room to support the families.
Accident footage shows the bus engulfed in flames shortly after the collision, and rescue teams rushed to the scene to help.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar expressed their sorrow, offering condolences and promising full support to the affected families.
