The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) regained significant ground on Wednesday, with the benchmark KSE‑100 Index climbing 1,291.14 points (0.8%) to close at 162,226.27, driven by broad-based buying across major sectors including autos, cement, banking, fertiliser, oil & gas, and power.
Several heavyweights such as OGDC, PPL, HBL, MCB and UBL all registered gains, signalling renewed investor optimism.
The rally followed a recent session of heavy selling pressure, with the index having dropped 752 points the previous day. The modest appreciation of the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar also added a supportive backdrop.
