Actor Kiefer Sutherland, best known for his role as Jack Bauer in the hit television series 24, was arrested early Monday morning in Hollywood after the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said he was involved in an altercation with a ride-hail driver that led to his detention on suspicion of criminal threats and assault. Officers responded just after midnight near Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue following a call reporting an incident involving the driver and the 59-year-old actor. According to authorities, Sutherland allegedly entered the vehicle, physically confronted the driver and issued threats before police intervened.
Sutherland was booked by LAPD officers at the scene and later released on a $50,000 bond, with his first court appearance scheduled for February 2, 2026 in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Police said the driver did not require medical treatment after the incident, which remains under investigation by the LAPD’s Hollywood Division.
The Canadian-born actor, who has a long career in film and television, has faced several legal issues in the past, including multiple arrests related to alcohol-related offences in the United States dating back to the 1990s.
