European Film Festival 2025: Europe’s Cinema Lights Up Pakistan

European film festival Pakistan

The fourth edition of the European Film Festival (EUFF) 2025 arrives in Pakistan this November, bringing a vibrant showcase of European cinema to Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore.

Organised by the Delegation of the European Union to Pakistan in collaboration with Olomopolo Media, the festival will present 19 feature films and 10 short films free of charge from November 7 to 23.

The Islamabad leg kicks off on November 7–8 at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), followed by screenings in Karachi on November 15–16 at the Karachi Film School, and concluding in Lahore on November 22–23 at the Alhamra Arts Council.

Beyond just films, each city’s programme features live performances, installations, social dances, and interactive “Kids’ Corner” and “Reading Nook” spaces — creating a festival atmosphere for all ages.

The selection includes work from across Europe: feature films such as the Czech “Behind the Curtain of High Mountains”, Hungarian “Without Air”, Irish “That They May Face the Rising Sun”, and Spanish “The Olive Tree”.

Short-films include “Don’t Worry” (Germany/Croatia), “Thermostat 6” (France), and others, while family-friendly titles like “Itty Bitty Princess” (Finland) and “My Dad is a Sausage” (Belgium) round out the line-up.

Also spotlighted: Portuguese cinema via the short documentary “A Sea of Trash” and the feature “Snu”, reflecting the festival’s mission to foster cultural dialogue and broaden cinematic horizons.
