The Dragon Ball franchise is returning to animated form with a new project titled Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol, announced as part of celebrations for the series’ 40th anniversary. This marks the first major Dragon Ball Super anime effort since the 2022 movie Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, and is positioned as the next direct adaptation of material from the Dragon Ball Super manga.
Set between in-universe Age 780–781 after Dragon Ball Super: Broly, the Galactic Patrol installment adapts what manga fans know as the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc. The story follows protagonists Goku and Vegeta teaming up with the Galactic Patrol, a cosmic peacekeeping force, to confront the powerful “Planet-Eater” Moro.
While official confirmation on whether the project will be a television series or feature format has yet to be released, the narrative’s scope and source material suggest a full anime season. The announcement has revitalized global fan excitement for the continuation of Dragon Ball Super content not previously animated.
