Punjab to Reduce Health Budget for Promoting Sports

Punjab

Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, Punjab’s newly elected Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, has stated that he intends to decrease the health funding for sportsmen.

During a news conference in Lahore, the minister declared that his goal is to make the sports ministry the most active by giving sports facilities to every child in Punjab.

He stated that while the health budget is the largest, the sports budget is shrinking, and they intend to cut the health budget by spending more on athletes.

The minister underlined steps to promote traditional games and pledged that monies set aside by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will be utilized to train athletes for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The minister also announced the acquisition of a new javelin for Arshad Nadeem, an athlete who had been practicing using worn-out equipment.

Khokhar advocated the development of sports centers in other cities, such to those in Lahore.
