Milk Price in Karachi: Farmers Seek Rs300/Litre: Reuters reports dairy and cow producers, who earlier agreed with the Karachi commissioner to keep prices at Rs220 per liter till December 2024, are now attempting to overturn the agreement and establish a higher price. They request a revised milk price of Rs 300 per liter and want an official announcement to support this adjustment.

The dairy and cattle producers’ organization has formally requested that the Karachi Commissioner issue a fresh milk price notification reflecting the anticipated raise.

Rising dairy farming costs, including feed, maintenance, and transportation, have substantially influenced profitability. The group claims that without this price rise, they would struggle to maintain operations and satisfy the market’s expanding expectations.

Commissioner Karachi announced a new price on Thursday, June 13, following discussions with the dairy producers’ organization.

According to a notification published here, the retail price of milk is now Rs 220 per liter, marking an increase of Rs 20 per liter. The wholesale price of milk is Rs 205 per liter, with dairy farmer prices set at Rs 195 per liter.
