Solar panel prices in Pakistan have risen sharply ahead of the Budget 2024-2025, as dealers change tariffs in anticipation of new tax measures.
The federal government is slated to release the budget on June 12, in accordance with the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) stipulations as Pakistan seeks a new bailout package.
According to sources, the government is considering placing more taxes on solar panels, causing dealers to raise costs ahead of time. The hike, which amounts to Rs8 per watt, has been felt across all panel sizes and specifications.
As of June 2024, the new solar panel pricing are as follows:
1 watt costs Rs8, whereas 588 watt plates cost between Rs4,000 and Rs5,000. A 180-watt panel costs Rs. 1,440.
Consumers expecting to pay between Rs3,000 and Rs4,000 for a 588-watt panel are now facing a hefty price rise.
Smaller panels ranging from 180 to 280 watts are now priced between Rs1,000 and Rs1,500.
