Karachi is experiencing a heat wave, with temps above 40 degree

Karachi

Karachi is suffering a blistering heat wave, with temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius on Saturday.

The blazing heat and humidity have made life terrible for residents, and the weather prediction predicts little relief on Sunday either.

The lowest temperature on Saturday morning was 29 degrees Celsius, one degree higher than the previous day, with an abnormally high humidity level of 66 per cent. This made the morning feel hotter than normal, and the scorching winds and hailstorms in the afternoon exacerbated the pain.

According to the Meteorological Department, Saturday’s highest temperature was 40.2 degrees Celsius, with a humidity level of 25%. This meant that the heat felt as severe as the real temperature, and there was no relief in sight.

The Meteorological Department’s Early Warning Center predicts that the weather will be hot and humid on Sunday, with a maximum temperature of more than 38 degrees Celsius. In certain parts of central and upper Sindh, temperatures can reach 46-48 degrees Celsius.

While Karachi bakes in the heat, certain rural Sindh districts, such as Qamber Shahdadkot, Jacobabad, and Shikarpur, may get light rain with thunder and dust. On Saturday, the hottest temperature in rural Sindh was 48.5 degrees Celsius in Shaheed Benazirabad.

To keep safe in the heat, citizens should stay hydrated, avoid intense activity during the warmest portion of the day, and seek shade or air-conditioned locations wherever available.
