KARACHI — The Commissioner of Karachi has authorized a Rs10 per liter hike in milk prices in response to Dairy Farmers Association proposal. With another price rise, the new rate is Rs 210 per liter.

People in Pakistan’s financial metropolis, Karachi, are facing the burden of a significant jump in commodity rates, with milk costs expected to rise again.

A report released by a local news outlet previously implies a Rs 50 per litre increase in milk costs.

Mubasher Qadeer Abbasi, President of Dairy Farmers Karachi, hinted at the projected hike, citing high milk production costs and an increase in cow prices.

Abbasi requested the Karachi Commissioner to publish a notice that aligns milk pricing with production costs.

He warned that if authorities do not declare an increase by May 10, milk vendors will unilaterally hike prices.

Recently, the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) indicated a 1% drop in weekly inflation across all consumer categories. Prices for 15 goods increased, 18 decreased, and 18 were steady.

Tomatoes, poultry, onions, and wheat flour prices fell, but potatoes and garlic soared.
