ISLAMABAD: The Norwegian government has deleted Pakistan from its national danger assessment list, Pakistani official media announced on Sunday.
Pakistan, among other countries, had been on Norway’s danger assessment list for years, posing substantial obstacles for Pakistani students and researchers seeking to study or work in the Scandinavian country.
The decision came after Islamabad’s successful diplomatic efforts to persuade the Norwegian authorities to remove Pakistan’s name off their list of “security concerns,” according to Pakistan’s state-run APP news agency.
“Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives bore fruit, leading to its removal from the list,” the study said.
“The announcement came through the latest report issued by Norway’s Police Security Service, which holds responsibility for intelligence and security matters within the country.”
Pakistani students and researchers have encountered significant challenges as a result of their country’s position on the list.
“This decision is anticipated to bolster Pakistan’s positive image on the global platform and create new educational opportunities for its students and researchers,” the report said.
