Six SHOs were suspended for ‘failure’ to curb crime in Karachi

KARACHI: At least six Station House Officers (SHOs) deployed at different police stations in Karachi have been suspended during the last month due to an increase in crimes in their respective jurisdictions.

According to the facts, SHO Shahrah Faisal Raja Tariq, SHO Bilal Colony Shahzada Salim, SHO Korangi Industrial Area Faraz, and SHO Surjani Town Rao Nazim are among the police officials suspended due to worsened peace and order in their areas.

Rao Rafiq, SHO of Zaman Town, has been suspended for his suspected participation in the robbery incident. Rizwan Patel, the SHO of Orangi Town, was also fired due to poor performance.

It is worth noting that at least 46 Karachi civilians have been killed in 2024 as a result of fighting robberies, with February having the most fatalities (20).

Month-by-month data revealed that February had the most killings, with 20 civilians killed by thieves.

Robbers killed up to 13 persons in January, while dacoits have slain around 13 city citizens in March.

In the most recent terrible instance, another young guy was slain by armed thieves for fighting robbery in the port city.

Armed robbers shot and killed a guy named Syed Rehbar on Rashid Minhas Road. Following the event, locals apprehended the robber and beat him to death as he attempted to leave.

Furthermore, the Sindh Home Minister took notice of the occurrence and ordered the suspension of SHO Shahrah-e-Faisal Police Station.
